The winter concert season has come to a close, and it was an incredible success! Over the past month, SOUNDS Academy students played in 12 shows, showcasing the hard work, talent, and passion of our students, teachers, and community. Here are some of the highlights: SOUNDS Academy Winter Concerts weren’t the only performances of the season! On December 9th, Israel and Abraham brought their talents to the stage at the Virginia G. Piper Writer House, showcasing the depth and range of talent within our programs for some of our biggest supporters. Additionally, SOUNDS Academy students had the opportunity to perform at Scottsdale Canal Convergence on November 16th and Herberger Theatre Center’s Festival of the Arts on November 15th. Throughout the season, the support from our teachers and alumni was truly heartwarming. Teachers came out in full force to cheer on their students, and alumni returned to the West Valley Concert to celebrate the next generation of musicians and leaders. This season was full of firsts! At the Collective Concert, we were thrilled to feature our vocal ensemble for their debut performance. The jazz ensemble also had their first-ever performance at Scottsdale’s Canal Convergence, bringing a lively energy to the event. The Collective Concert was a standout showcase, not only because it was a full house at The Nash, but also because of the incredible musical diversity in the concert program. From Dvořák string quartets to Broadway tunes to Earth, Wind & Fire, the students captivated the audience with their versatility and skill. Our Central Valley concerts featured three performances in one day—a testament to the program’s remarkable growth! Students wowed audiences with performances on a variety of instruments like drums, saxophone, flute, piano, and strings. Each concert began with students doing the “SOUNDS Academy Chant,” before running to the performance area with excitement, ready to put on a fantastic show. The concert season concluded on December 17th with an unforgettable night at the West Valley Concert. This performance held extra significance as many students performed for the first time, thanks to the growth of our piano and guitar programs in that part of the valley. It was also a bittersweet farewell to the Choi family, who performed their last concert with us, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to SOUNDS Academy. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the venues who hosted us this season, including Herberger Theatre Center, The Nash, Phoenix Center for the Arts, Osborn Middle School, and Estrella Mountain Community College. To everyone who performed, volunteered, or attended, thank you for making this season so unforgettable. This winter concert season reminded us of the power of music to build our character values of leadership, creativity, resilience, perseverance, and teamwork. From first-time performers to seasoned alumni, the growth of our community was on full display. As we close this chapter, we’re already looking forward to the new memories the Spring Semester will bring! Happy Holidays! Love, SOUNDS Academy Below are links to photo albums from each concert: Central Valley (Osborn Middle School) Central Valley (Phoenix Center for the Arts) The Collective Concert (The Nash) Exposure Concert (Herberger Theatre Center)
