Teaching Artist (Brass)
Charity Morrison is a horn player, composer & improviser, educator, and inquisitive creative whose work draws on a diverse life experience and multicultural upbringing.
Charity is currently Artist-in-Residence at Mirabella, where she programs and performs weekly recitals, along with engagement events and educational lectures. As a freelancer, Charity has played recently with the Phoenix Symphony, Louise Baranger & Friends at The Nash, the West Valley Symphony, the Sedona Symphony, and ProMusica Arizona. Charity has studied at the University of North Texas, where she graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts in Music and dual minors in English and Chinese, and is currently completing a Masters in Horn Performance at Arizona State University. As a composer and improviser on both horn and piano, Charity’s works emphasize expressive melodies and lyricism, always seeking to substantiate meaning beyond the music. Her professional affiliations include Mu Phi Epsilon, the International Women’s Brass Conference (IWBC), Maestra Music, and the International Alliance of Women in Music as a board member.
Charity was born and raised in Wuhan, China, and has lived in Denton, Texas and Tempe, Arizona. Outside of her musical pursuits, Charity is an avid cook and enjoys literature, urban walks, and a strong cup of coffee.
