Mimi Papp attended the New School of Music in Philadelphia where her principal instructors were Jascha Brodsky and Yumi Ninomiya Scott (members of the Curtis String Quartet).She received her violin performance degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Burton Kaplan.
Mimi became certified to teach the Suzuki method at the School for Strings in New YorkCity, under the direction of Louse Behrend.
Mimi considers her principal mentor to be Richard Simon, former violinist of the New York Philharmonic. Prior to relocating to the Southwest,
Mimi held positions with the New Orleans and Florida Symphonies and was an active freelance violinist in New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore/Washington DC area.
From 1992 until 2000 Mimi was based in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania where she was an adjunct faculty member of the Moravian College Music Department with a very active violin studio. She was a founding member of the chamber ensemble Satori and a member of the violin faculty at the Kinhaven Music School (a summer music program) in Weston, VT.
In 2003 Mimi relocated to, Arizona by way of Tucson and Sedona and more recently to Phoenix with her husband, violinist/violist TomGinsberg. Mimi continues to freelance with the Arizona Opera, San Juan Symphony and participates in chamber concerts in and around the Southwest. Her many interests include yoga, horseback riding,cooking, hiking and gardening.
